Visualisation of a single-storey, contemporary home in Ponsanooth, Cornwall. East–west orientation with glazed living spaces to the west, bedrooms to the east, and a central southern entrance optimising daylight and energy efficiency.

Contemporary Home

Ponsanooth, Cornwall

A low-lying, single-storey home designed with a clear east–west orientation to optimise natural light and support passive solar gain. This careful arrangement contributes to a high-performance, energy-efficient dwelling that feels both modern and grounded in its landscape.

Accessed centrally from the south, the internal layout is organised with practicality and comfort in mind: a utility room and bathroom are positioned to the north, while bedrooms to the east capture the morning sun. To the west, an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area opens out onto a balcony through large glazed doors, providing expansive views and evening light.

The home’s crisp, rectilinear form and minimal material palette reflect a contemporary architectural language, while its orientation and layout are deeply responsive to the site and climate.

This project was designed by KAST Architects. I contributed to the design and produced the visualisation while working at the practice.

“Tim was exceptional. Really thoughtful, considered designs and great attention to detail. Responsive and enthusiastic throughout. He seems to have ascended since our contract finished and to be honest, I wouldn't assume to get such a bargain again.”
